The New Wagon R….An ideal Family car

Most Indian Families prefer a car that is Budget Friendly and Comfortable at the same time. Maruti Suzuki is the name on the top of the list of all the families for their first car and that too a budget friendly too. Most Maruti Suzuki cars are a success and leaders in the sales charts due to the Made In India and Made for India approach. If we look at the Maruti Suzuki cars for middle class urban families or even rural families there are many options to choose from like the Alto 800, Alto K10, Eeco, Omni, Wagon R and Celerio. Amongst these there is a Name that is considered to be an Ideal Family car & that is WAGON R.

Wagon R has been a favourite car for families in the Urban as well as the rural areas. It looks big due to its boxy shape and provides with ample space in the inside for the passengers with decent amount of comfort. It’s the Tall boy that makes City commute and even long drives a breeze for the Small families. With the iterations over the years, the creature comforts have increased according to the demand and made the Wagon R a very good and a popular product with the masses.

The Wagon R celebrates its 20th year in the India market in 2019.. It has seen tremendous success throughout its lifespan despite going through only two generations. More tham 22 lakh units of Wagon R were sold in India and Now the all-new third generation model is looking to build on the success of its predecessor and has a lot of expectations riding on it. This New generation Wagon R will boast of New features and added safety in accordance with the upcoming crash norms in India.

The New Wagon R has been launched today at Rs.4.19 lakh for the base LXi variant and goes up to 5.69 lakh for the top end variant (Ex-showroom prices). This new generation is based on the new Heartect platform which also underpins Baleno, Swift, Ignis & Dzire. The lightweight and rigid platform has helped in adding more safety features in the new generation and will definitely inspire confidence in the riders. The new generation is bigger in dimensions than its predecessor, it measures 3655 mm in Length, 1620 mm in Width & 1675 mm in height with the wheelbase of 2435mm.

Significant Changes have been made to the exterior in order to take on the new Hyundai Santro. The prominent grill with a slat joining the headlamps gives it a nice look. The bumper has wider air dam and new fog lamp housings. The rear has also be redesigned to make it appealing and stylish with the new vertical tail lamps. The best part is that Maruti hasn’t tried to tinker the Wagon R’s tall boy stance and flat roofline.

The interior is a big step up over the previous model. Touchscreen infotainment system with android auto and apple car play are a welcome addition, but the most significant addition is the option of 1.2litre K-series engine from the Swift, this boost in power will make long journeys a breeze and will definitely enhance the appeal and performance of the Wagon R.
The New Gen Wagon R will be offered in VXi, VXi AGS, ZXi and ZXi AGS trims while the regular 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol will be sold in LXi, VXi and VXi AGS models. The Wagon R can be had in six colour options namely Autumn Orange, Nutmeg Brown, Poolside Blue, Superior White, Silky Silver and Magma Grey. The LPG and CNG variants will be launched soon.

The New Generation Model makes for a more attractive proposition for the customers and with new design and style this might appeal to the youth too. It’s a well rounded package with the necessary creature comforts and thus makes it the perfect Family Car to have. It should ideally be called a Family wagon. Maruti Suzuki has another winner in their Ranks and it will surely be a huge success as the previous generations.
